Rinn Netherton
Rinn specializes in teaching old-time fiddle, swing violin, and general improvisation. Their goals as a teacher are threefold: first, to encourage the student's passion and enjoyment of the music; second, to help the student refine their technique, style, and musicality; and third, to equip the student with the tools and approaches necessary for self-directed learning.
BIO: Rinn Netherton is a folk, old-time, swing, and jazz multi-instrumentalist active in the St. Louis area. They found their musical beginning on violin at age 11 playing in local old-time jam sessions in St. Louis, and over time developed a powerful, energetic fiddle style with which they won first place at the prestigious Old Time Fiddle Championship at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas in 2016. Their music can be heard in listening rooms, dance halls, festival and concert stages, and restaurants, and they are an active member of swing trio the Triplets of Grubville, swing quartet the Hot Club of St. Louis, multi-genre duo Cambia, old-time quartet The Short List, contra dance band duo Roger Wilco, folk quartet Run Down Boots and The New Soles, and various other projects. In addition to their musical endeavors, they spend their 9-5 each work week as an analyst.
